Welcome! My name is Brett Carlson and I’m the owner of B-STRATEGIC Writing & Communications. I leverage more than 15 years in the communications industry to help clients like you grow their brand and bottom line through effective marketing techniques and consistent key messaging.

In 2002, I founded B-STRATEGIC – an award-winning writing and communications company – to help clients establish customer-centric marketing and communications initiatives that make business and financial goals a reality. As a strategic writer, branding agent, communications specialist and project manager, I have served a variety of clients worldwide, including: 3M, Aveda, BI Performance Services, Cargill, Chemstar Corporation, Chief Manufacturing, City of St. Paul, Dunkin Donuts, Harris IT Services, HealthPartners, Hormel, ING, Lawson Software, Power/mation, Qwest Communications, StorMagic and U.S. Bank.

Prior to starting B-STRATEGIC, I held a number of marketing leadership roles including marketing services account director and writer for ASI Communications, marketing communications manager for U.S. Bank, marketing communications project manager for Lawson Software, and domain communications manager for Aveda Corporation. I also have extensive public relations and event planning management experience including roles as a senior account executive for Weber Shandwick Worldwide and LaBreche Murray Public Relations.

Over the years my work has received many awards and appointments from the Public Relations Society of America (2001 Classics Award; 2007 Classics Award finalist), the Advertising Federation of Minnesota (2004 Bronze Pin) and the American Marketing Association (Minnesota Chapter, Board Member 2003-2004). I earned my bachelor's degree in technical writing and communications, with a minor in environmental science from the University of Minnesota, Duluth.
